During September and October, we’ll be out and about in communities along the alignment at our drop-in information stands. So, come by and say hi if you have a question about the project.

On Tuesday 6 and Wednesday 7 September, we’ll be at the Deadly Trackers Career Expo at the University of Southern Queensland to talk about the range of careers and skills required by Inland Rail and our construction contractors to build the project.

Additionally, through September and October, the ARTC Inland Rail Skills Academy and Industry Capability Network (ICN) Queensland are holding business capability building workshops to help local and First Nations businesses get ‘Inland Rail ready’ and tender for upcoming supply opportunities.

We hope to see you at one of the events. Alternatively, you can always drop by our Toowoomba office at 143 Margaret Street or contact our stakeholder engagement team 1800 732 761 with any questions.

What’s happening in the field?

Our teams will continue surveys of ground and surface water and ecology on public land, in road reserves and the rail corridor during September and October. Investigations on private property will be arranged with individual landowners. Specific studies include surveys for the Brigalow Woodland Snail and aquatic surveys.

View all current and upcoming field investigations.

Our design and construction partner for the Northern Civil Works program, BHQJV are preparing for geotechnical investigations between Whetstone and Gowrie later in the year.

These environmental and technical investigations will help to validate and enhance the existing reference design for this section of Inland Rail.

When these investigation locations are determined our team will contact impacted landowners directly to discuss the works and negotiate a land access agreement.

Help us shape how we engage with you

You may have received an email from Inland Rail recently asking for your feedback on how we engage and communicate with you.

Each quarter, we conduct a communication and engagement survey in communities along the Inland Rail alignment.

This 5–10-minute survey is confidential and independently run by national market research company, Ipsos.

Your survey feedback will shape how we can better work with communities to ensure you have the information you need and the opportunity to provide feedback as Inland Rail progresses.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback. Your feedback is important to us.

If you have any questions regarding this survey, or about Inland Rail in general, please call us on 1800 732 761.

EIS status

The QLD/ NSW Border to Gowrie project remains in the approvals stage as we prepare additional information to support the project’s revised draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS).

The revised draft EIS will be subject to a period of public consultation following submission and acceptance by the Coordinator General (CG). Timing for additional consultation will be determined by the CG in due course.
