For Kilmore Golf Club, safety is par for the course

Kilmore Golf Club is ensuring the safety of users of its grounds – with or without clubs - thanks to an Inland Rail Community Sponsorships and Donations grant.

Safety always comes first at ARTC – No Harm is one of four values at the heart of what we do.

It comes as no surprise to see an Inland Rail Community Sponsorships and Donations grant go towards Kilmore Golf Club’s drive for safety.

The club’s course suffered extensive damage during the storms last year, leaving many tree branches hanging dangerously low.

Not only does that present a hazard to golf club members, it also threatens the many walkers who enjoy a stroll on the grounds.

Club president Bea Lea said the grant had enabled the purchase of a tree lopper – a mini-chainsaw on a telescoping pole.

“Massive storms came through last year and they destroyed many trees on our golf course,” she said.

“This scares me because we encourage people to use our golf course as a walking place. We want to make it nice and safe.”

Bea said the branch-cutting tool would get plenty of use.

“It’s an ongoing issue with all the trees on our course,” she said.
