Inland Rail has been nominated for an award in the Sustainability Leadership category for its Excellence in Social Outcomes for the outstanding community work being done in regional Australia by the Inland Rail Skills Academy in delivering skills and education programs.
Inland Rail’s engagement with regional communities is creating opportunities for education, training and skills development and employment, delivering an enduring legacy of educational enrichment and sustainable maturity.
In addition, Inland Rail has also been nominated for the Industry Impact category in the Public Sector area for the integrated sustainability principles being delivered across the entire program, embedding sustainability into Inland Rail’s everyday processes.
Steve Jones, Director of Health, Safety and the Environment, Inland Rail said:
“We are delighted to be nominated for these highly prestigious awards. Sustainability is a key priority within Inland Rail and is prioritised at all levels of the project to deliver exemplar social and economic benefits for Australia.
“Inland Rail is committed to being a leader in the rail and freight industry and we understand that to drive change across the industry our own organisational operations and strategies must be ambitious enough to see significant carbon mitigation across the program.
“Good luck to all of the award nominees and we are very proud of the nominations that we have received in these two categories.”
