The Inland Rail Program is a 1600km rail infrastructure project stretching from Brisbane to Melbourne incorporating new and existing rail track. The program includes the upgrading of existing standard gauge track, the enhancement of existing standard gauge track to cater for double stacking and the construction of new standard gauge links comprising of viaducts, tunnels, rail track, crossings and bridges. About the opportunity

Reporting to the Organisation Effectiveness Lead, the HR Advisor – System & Reporting, will collaborate with subject matter experts in the functionality of the HRIS and reporting tools to ensure continuous improvement and efficiency in HR processes for the wider Inland Rail program.  This is an exciting opportunity to be the subject matter expert in People & Culture (P&C) systems and reporting. You will be responsible for driving process improvement across the entire employee lifecycle. Key elements and responsibilities in the role include but not limited to:

  • HRIS Management & Improvement: Maintain and enhance HR Information Systems (HRIS) to ensure accurate employee and organisational data.
  • Performance & Remuneration: Manage annual remuneration surveys, support short-term incentives, performance reviews, and compliance reporting (e.g., WGEA, gender pay gaps).
  • Culture & Employee Engagement: Administer and analyse engagement and exit surveys, support inclusive culture initiatives and action planning.
  • Learning & Development: Maintain L&D systems and compliance reporting, support data collection and analysis for training programs.
  • Reporting & Analytics: Prepare HR reports, dashboards, and insights for decision-making.
  • HR Generalist & Project Support: Maintain the continuous improvement register and represent P&C in change management forums

About you
If you are looking for a role where you can leverage your HR generalist experience, to expand your skill set in the HR speciality areas by partnering with SME’s in their field then this is the role for you. This role presents a unique opportunity to work across Reward, Organisational Development, Learning & Development, Talent Acquisition and be responsible for the HRIS.

As a highly skilled and detail-oriented HR professional you should have experience working in human resources capacity within the heavy industry, construction or an engineering environment. Holding tertiary qualifications in Human Resources or a related field ideally you will possess well-rounded background in HR generalist functions, complemented by expertise in HR Information Systems (HRIS), particularly Cornerstone (desirable).

Additionally, you should have a keen eye for data accuracy and integrity, excel in managing employee information, identifying key HR metrics, and leveraging data analytics to drive continuous improvement. Proficiency in reporting tools such as Power BI and employee experience platforms like Culture Amp will enable you to provide insightful analysis that supports strategic HR decision-making.
