The Inland Rail Program is a 1600km rail infrastructure project stretching from Brisbane to Melbourne incorporating new and existing rail track. The program includes the upgrading of existing standard gauge track, the enhancement of existing standard gauge track to cater for double stacking and the construction of new standard gauge links comprising of viaducts, tunnels, rail track, crossings and bridges. About the opportunity

As the Rail Systems Manager you will be responsible for the safe and timely delivery of enhancement rail works for the Beveridge to Albury (B2A) construction sites. Your role will provide delivery management, Safeworking expertise and operational readiness for the B2A project team.

Based in the Melbourne CBD office and reporting to the Senior Project Manager Rail your responsibilities will include:

  • Manage the interface between Inland Rail, ARTC, and Vline to ensure operational readiness
  • Manage corridor access approvals
  • Manage long term planning of both Vline and ARTC possessions
  • Review and monitor Safeworking practices, processes and compliance.
  • Coach and mentor the delivery team to enable them to perform Safeworking checks as part of their daily inspections
  • Oversee and collaborate with the delivery team to evaluate and monitor project objectives, detailed scopes, costs, scheduling and safety.
  • Monitor and evaluate project performance by conducting regular reviews of project milestones and implement mitigation strategies where necessary.

About you

To ensure success in this position, applicants will be able to demonstrate:

  • Tertiary qualifications in engineering and/or extensive/relevant experience in rail management.
  • Significant demonstrated experience in delivering multi disciplined rail projects involving rail infrastructure
  • Applied knowledge of Work, Health and Safety principles and relevant rail safety legislation.
  • Demonstrated commercial acumen.
  • Experience in delivering projects with significant focus on Possession
  • Management, Operational Readiness and Safeworking
  • Sound knowledge of railway systems, TA20 (ARTC code of practice), rail operations and operational readiness and ARTC and Vline procedures.
