About the opportunity
We’re
seeking a passionate and strategic Social Performance Lead to drive meaningful
outcomes across the Inland Rail program in NSW and Victoria. In this role,
you’ll ensure the Social Impact Management Plan and Social Performance Program
are embedded across all project phases—maximising community benefits, including
Indigenous employment and business participation. This opportunity is a 12-month maternity cover.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Provide input into the allocated NSW and Victorian Projects, by contributing to technical advice in the fields of social performance, workforce management, local industry participation, housing as well as community health and wellbeing, stakeholder and community engagement.
- Provide social performance leadership, technical advice and support specifically the allocated New South Wales and Victorian Projects.
- Ensure social elements are included in the development of Inland Rail planning and environmental management strategies, documents and procedures. Manage the acquisition of socio-economic baseline data to support these documents, and develop, manage and execute relevant community consultation programs to communicate the social performance program in support of business requirements.
- Contribute relevant social performance and required social outcomes to the relevant environmental studies associated with Feasibility Studies, Environmental Impact Assessments and Construction Managements Plans as required. Ensure the relevant elements/initiatives presented in these studies are then represented in the Service Providers construction documents.
- Work with key stakeholders to help maximise social outcomes related to workforce management and local and Indigenous industry participation across the Inland Rail Program in line with current policies and plans.
- Manage the development of a program for local employment and business engagement that can be delivered consistently across Inland Rail projects at relevant stages, working with relevant Inland Rail departments and external parties (i.e. Contractors) to develop this engagement process
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders and external partners, such as the Australian Government, to deliver social performance outcomes, particularly in relation to local employment and business participation.
- Manage environmental consultants who carry out specific scopes of work relating to the social performance space, to ensure that the work carried out is consistent with Inland Rail practices and procedures and align with social performance requirements. Critically review all consultants’ recommendations to ensure accuracy and adequacy and implement recommendations.
About You
The successful candidate will demonstrate a combination
of interpersonal analytical and strategic skills, as well as being passionate
to social impact.
- Experience in the fields of socio-economic development and public stakeholder participation programs as well as relevant project management experience.
- Experience in the design and delivery of social performance elements for major industry/infrastructure projects in either of Queensland, New South Wales or Victoria in both brownfield and greenfield settings.
- Experience designing, coordinating/managing and delivering social improvement projects and social performance initiatives that have delivered measurable results.
- Experience in coordinating and coordinating social impact assessments, including an ability to resolve complex issues and be proactive in addressing social concerns.
- Facilitating multi-stakeholder engagement sessions, and the delivery of effective stakeholder engagement processes as well as an ability to win the support and confidence of internal and external stakeholders, as well as providing sound conflict resolution skills.
- Working in a team addressing complex environmental issues with a high profile in the community, including negotiations with stakeholders on complex social and policy issues.
- Proven knowledge of emerging trends, key benchmarks and statutory and regulatory requirements to inform best practice and value management outcomes
- Knowledge of relevant State (Qld or NSW or Vic) and Federal environmental legislation including project approval process.
- Literacy with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and customised software packages.
- Sound research, analysis and investigation skills, coupled with communication and interpersonal skills. Able to deliver effective investigation outcomes and reports within specified timeframes.
- Ability to work autonomously as this position requires regular interstate travel.
- A Class C unrestricted Driver’s License.
