Narromine to Narrabri project update March 2023
Since our last update, we have received approval from the NSW Minister for Planning to progress the Narromine to Narrabri Project, subject to conditions and Australian Government approval. We also welcome two new starters - Maree Young and Miranda Broekman - who have joined our Stakeholder Engagement team.

State environmental approval received
In late February, ARTC Inland Rail received approval from the NSW Minister for Planning to progress the Narromine to Narrabri section, subject to conditions and Australian Government approval.
Now that State approval has been received, Project assessment will be finalised by the Australian Government under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999.
During this time, we will continue working with the preferred construction contractor, ACACPB JV, to develop the Project’s detailed design environmental and social management plans, permits and licenses.
The project team will also conduct low impact works such as service utility relocations and site investigations, including geotechnical surveys to better understand ground conditions.
As we move through our approvals, we will continue to consult with the community and be there to answer your questions and hear your concerns.

As the project progresses toward final approvals and the start of construction, we’re committed to keeping you informed about the design development, potential impacts, and proposed mitigations, some of which have been guided by community feedback.
Late last year we responded to increased interest from residents in Narrabri (in particular, the Gibbons and Elizabeth Street residential areas) by offering one-on-one meetings. In response to our mailout invitation, one meeting was requested and held in our Narrabri office.

Say hi to our new starters
We delighted to welcome Maree Young and Miranda Broekman to the project’s Stakeholder Engagement team.
Originally from Gunnedah, where her family own Namoi Valley Bricks, Miranda recently relocated to Narrabri to support the business investment and growth opportunities emerging in the region on the back of Inland Rail.
The oldest of four girls, Miranda is a travel enthusiast and mostly recently visited Egypt. Already planning her next trip, Miranda would like to take her Mum to the UK when she can get the chance, and later visit Africa.
After leaving her childhood home of Narromine in 1992 to travel the world through a career in travel IT, Maree gave up city life and headed home to Narromine three years ago to be closer to family and friends.
Maree had been watching Inland Rail’s progress from afar with construction of the Parkes to Narromine section sparking her interest in joining the Narromine to Narrabri project.
