Operational noise treatment consultations update

Specialist noise treatment consultants RCA Australia are close to finishing initial consultations with property owners and residents along the Narrabri to North Star Phase 1 alignment. Around 46 properties are eligible for ‘at property’ treatment options to mitigate impacts of Inland Rail when it becomes operational.

As a result of the Inland Rail Review which has recommended Inland Rail prioritise the sections between Beveridge and Parkes, work to upgrade the rail corridor between Tapscott Road and Moree Station (Stage 2C) has been postponed.

Properties on Moreton and Oak Streets that were earlier identified as part of the Operational Noise and Vibration Review will not be impacted by construction at this time.

As such, there is no requirement to further consult with the properties which our modelling predicted would exceed operational noise triggers. We will re-start this consultation once design and construction of section 2C resumes.

At this stage we cannot commit to specific timeframes around the delivery of the Stage 2C works. However, we will re-engage with impacted property owners at a later date to discuss potential ‘at-property’ noise mitigation options.

If you have any further questions regarding operational noise and vibration, please contact Inland Rail on 1800 732 761.
