Sketching out the Inland Rail Delivery Strategy
In September 2020, we announced the Inland Rail Delivery Strategy. This included a change to our procurement process to make it more collaborative, projects smaller and less complicated, and with more opportunities for industry to participate.

One of the ways we did this was through a Works Program and Package approach. What does that mean? Check out our animations to see what the strategy looks like in action.
The Inland Rail Delivery Strategy is in line with the Australian Government’s commitment to fast-track investment in critical infrastructure projects and is in response to industry feedback.
The Works Program and Package approach is helping us de-risk the delivery of Inland Rail by streamlining our tendering process and giving industry more certainty around the awarding of contracts and supply opportunities.
The Inland Rail alignment between Narromine in north-west New South Wales and Gowrie Junction (north-west of Toowoomba) in Queensland has been split into three Civil Works Programs – Northern, Central and Southern. Each Civil Works Program comprises distinct works packages.
