Investigations, site preparation, Euroa, 9 December 2024 to 31 January 2025

Investigation works are continuing in Euroa and within the rail corridor during December 2024 and January 2025.

Work being done

Investigation works

  • Surveying the railway track, road and pavement levels at multiple locations
  • Investigating and cleaning out sewer lines and drainage pits at multiple locations
  • Locating and mapping underground services using non-destructive digging (NDD).

Preparation for establishment of project worksites

  • Project worksites, where worker facilities, plant and materials will be located, will be established in Euroa on vacant land at 5 Anderson Street and the railway yard on Elliot Street
  • In preparation, there will be:
    • vegetation clearing
    • hardstands installed, concrete slabs poured, boundary fences and concrete barriers erected, access roads created, portable site offices installed and environmental controls set up
  • Generators will be used until a power supply is connected to the site in early 2025.

Removal and storage of Goods Shed stone foundations

  • The stone foundations have been identified as potentially suitable for reuse in the new station precinct and will be removed and stored securely
  • Inland Rail is committed to working with community members interested in the heritage interpretation of the Goods Shed within the new station precinct design, more information will be shared as the design progresses.

What can I expect?

  • Works 7am-6pm Monday to Friday and 7am-1pm Saturdays
  • Traffic management will be required in some locations where works are occurring close to roads. Please observe all traffic management instructions and signage
  • There will be additional truck movements to and from the site during these works
  • Reduced speed limits of 40km/h near works
  • Workers using machinery, equipment, hand tools and service vehicles
  • Nearby residents may hear some noise and experience some vibration.

Machinery used

NDD truck, cranes, excavators, trucks, earthmoving plant, compaction roller, support vehicles, workers using hand tools and survey equipment, traffic management equipment and signage.

How we're managing impacts

  • Traffic management and reduced road speeds
  • Access to private properties will be maintained.

Cancellation of works

Works can sometimes be cancelled at short notice depending on weather and other factors. Should this occur, works will be rescheduled.
