Murray Valley Highway, Barnawartha North – site establishment and utilities relocations
In January and February 2023, our contractor McConnell Dowell will continue works to establish a site compound and relocate utilities in and around Murray Valley Highway, Barnawartha North.
Work being done
Preparatory works will also begin ahead of rail track lowering and piling (drilling) work in March 2023.
As most of these will occur on or beside the rail tracks, there will be little impact to road users during this time other than increased use of machinery, equipment and vehicle activity.
What can I expect
- Continued site compound preparations
- Installation of fencing along the rail corridor and around site compound areas
- Approved vegetation removal
- Implementation of environmental controls
- Ground excavation in various locations
- Utility relocations and connections (power, water and sewer)
- Trucks and other vehicles entering and exiting the construction site from Welladsens Road, which may cause minor delays
- Construction machinery and equipment operating on site
- Delivery of materials and equipment
- Works in and around the rail corridor
- Depending on where you live, residents can expect some noise during daylight hours.
Machinery used
- Support vehicles and
- some heavy vehicles will be used within the works area.
How we’re managing impacts
- Ensuring powered connections to our site compound to minimise generator use
- Traffic management may be in place to ensure safe access for all road users where required
- Water carts will be onsite to wet down areas and assist in managing dust
- Reducing the number of vehicles required onsite
- Equipment and machinery will be delivered to the site via rail where possible to minimise traffic impacts.
