Seymour-Avenel Road bridge works March 2024
Inland Rail will continue construction works in and around the Seymour-Avenel Road bridge in Seymour during March.
Work being done
Works will include the removal of the bridge during a track possession (9-11 March) and bulk excavation for the start of bridge piling. Piling involves drilling deep into the ground to provide strengthening for the new bridge abutments.
Signal gantry replacement within the rail corridor will also occur near the Seymour-Avenel Road site.
Round-the-clock works will be undertaken during a track possession between 6am Saturday 9 March and 6pm Monday 11 March.
What can I expect
- Works will occur between 7am-6pm weekdays, and potential weekends between 7am-5pm
- Construction noise during daylight hours, with mitigation measures in place
- Business and local traffic access to Granville Drive will be maintained
- Trucks and other vehicles entering and exiting the construction site, may cause minor traffic delays
- Approved vegetation removal in the project area
- Heavy machinery and equipment operating onsite
- Delivery of materials and equipment
- Seymour-Avenel Road bridge closed, with detour in place via Avenel Road.
Machinery used
Heavy and light vehicles including trucks, cranes, loaders, excavators and rollers will be used within the works area.
How we’re managing impacts
- Water carts will be onsite to wet down areas to assist in managing dust
- Traffic management will be in place to ensure safe access for all road users where required
- Environmental controls in place.
