Station access works Wangaratta Railway Station 10-24 May 2024
McConnell Dowell will undertake works that will mean temporary changes to pedestrian and vehicle access at Wangaratta Station between 10-24 May.
Work being done
Works will include demolition and replacement of the station access road and footbridge over the Dive, with new pavement and asphalting installed as the permanent surface.
Pedestrian access to the station entrance will be maintained via a temporary pathway during works.
Station car parking will be accessible by entering and existing the northern end (Docker Street), with traffic control in place.
Back-filling and compacting of the Dive, fence removal, redundant power pole removal, drainage installation and concrete cutting will occur during this period.
Upgrades to the electrical and communication conduits will also take place.
There will be temporary bus drop-off and pick-up locations in Norton Street, with V/Line staff providing support and guidance for passengers. Trains will continue to run as per the V/Line timetable.
What can I expect?
- Construction work 7am-7pm Monday to Sunday (7 days)
- Temporary fencing and traffic management in place to ensure safe access for pedestrians and motorists in and around the station precinct
- Some Norton Street parking bays closed off for temporary bus parking zones
- Southern section of the carpark closed
- Station carpark access via the northern end only with traffic management in place
- Changes to pedestrian access at the station with a temporary pathway installed
- Noise from construction machinery and equipment operating onsite
- Trucks and other vehicles entering and exiting the work site
- Ground excavations in various locations
- Approved vegetation removal within the project area.
Machinery used
Heavy and light vehicles including excavators and attachments, light towers, tracked loader, smooth drum rollers, tool trucks and concrete saws will be used within the work areas.
How we’re managing impacts
- VMS boards and traffic management in place to ensure safe access for all road users and pedestrians, where required
- Environmental controls in place including live monitoring of noise, dust and vibration.
