Wangaratta Station Precinct works
The North East rail line will be closed to all trains between 3am and 9pm on Monday 3 July while works are undertaken for the Inland Rail project.
Work being done
McConnell Dowell will remove the Cusack Street footbridge to enable construction of the new pedestrian underpass at Wangaratta railway station.
Works will include dismantling the Cusack Street footbridge and installing temporary walkways. Pedestrian access will be maintained via the Docker Street footbridge until the new pedestrian underpass is operational.
Approved vegetation removal will be completed and utility relocation or removal works will be undertaken.
Most of the works will occur within or near the station precinct, with minimal impact to road users in the area other than an increase in machinery, equipment and vehicle activity.
What can I expect?
- Approved vegetation removal within the project area
- Traffic management in and around Cusack Street, Spearing Street and Norton Street, when required
- Ground excavations in various locations
- Trucks and other vehicles entering and exiting the work site
- Construction machinery and equipment operating onsite
- Delivery of materials and equipment
- Nearby residents can expect some noise during works
- Temporary fencing, barricades and exclusion zones in place for traffic management around the bridge and bus stop.
Machinery used
- Heavy and light vehicles including tip trucks,
- flatbed trucks,
- mobile cranes,
- elevated work platforms,
- woodchippers and excavators will be used within the work areas.
How we’re managing impacts
- Traffic management will be in place to ensure safe access for all road users and pedestrians, where required
- Environmental monitoring and controls in place
- Water carts will be onsite to wet down areas to assist in managing dust
- Reducing vehicles required onsite.
