What can I expect?

Work crews will excavate test pits and drill boreholes at various locations to better understand ground conditions and inform the project’s detailed design.

Depending on location, boreholes will be drilled using truck-mounted or rail track-mounted drilling rigs. Boreholes are anticipated to be a maximum of 20cm wide and will be filled in at the completion of drilling. A backhoe is used to excavate test pits and the area is reinstated on completion.

  • Temporary traffic control and lane closures as vehicles access work sites
  • Some potential low-level noise, dust and visual impacts resulting from ground drilling, which will be short in duration at each site
  • Properties that may potentially be noise affected by these investigations will be notified individually.

Machinery used

  • combination of light vehicles,
  • a double axel truck,
  • tracked and truck-mounted drilling rigs,
  • excavators.

Heavy vehicles will be parked adjacent to investigation locations and away from residential grassed or landscaped areas to minimise environmental impacts.

How we’re managing impacts

  • Traffic controls will be in place at each street and property access will be maintained for all impacted residents
  • Access to residential properties will be maintained at all times
  • Scheduling temporary lane closure periods to avoid traffic congestions
  • Mitigation measures will be in place for works generating noise or dust.
