Bomen Yard telecommunications service relocation
Between May and July 2023, utility contractors will undertake works on ARTC Inland Rail’s behalf to relocate telecommunication services at Bomen Yard.
What can I expect?
- Construction contractors will access the work sites from Dampier Street, Jersey Street and Byrnes Road.
- Construction machinery and equipment operating on site.
- Delivery of materials and equipment to site.
- Potential temporary road closures at Dampier and Jersey Streets.
- Temporary service interruptions may be required. Impacted residents will be notified in advance by the contractors.
These utility relocations have been assessed through a Review of Environmental Factors under the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979.
We want to reassure residents that starting these utility relocations now does not mean approval has been given for major construction to begin on the Albury to Illabo section.
They will however enable major construction to start more efficiently once approvals are issued.
Work being done
- Relocating existing and installing new telecommunication cables and cable pits in the vicinity of Dampier Street, Jersey Street and Byrnes Road.
Machinery used
- Vacuum trucks,
- Trucks,
- Water cart,
- Generator,
- Hand tools and equipment,
- Excavators,
- Skid steer (loader with wheels) or Positrack (loader with tracks),
- Directional drilling/boring machine, and
- Light vehicles.
How we’re managing impacts
- Traffic controls will be in place at each street and property access will be maintained for all impacted residents,
- Scheduling temporary lane closure periods to avoid traffic congestions,
- Mitigation measures will be in place for works generating
noise or dust.
