  • Project Engineer – Client side / Delivery
  • FIFO/DIDO 10:4 (from NSW, QLD, VIC) | Site location: I2S (Illabo to Stockinbingal) 
  • Permanent position

Reporting to the Project Manager, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the I2S (Illabo to Stockinbingal) project is delivered safely, on time and within budget. This position will see you working Client side and working closely with contractors, engineering teams, and key stakeholders to ensure construction activities, technical requirements, and project performance objectives are met.


Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Assist with planning and delivering the I2S project in line with IRPL requirements.
  • Promote and uphold a strong safety culture aligned with Inland Rail values.
  • Coordinate with Design & Engineering teams to resolve technical queries and ensure compliance.
  • Undertake site inspections and liaise with consultants and engineers.
  • Review scopes, schedules, cost inputs, and safety documentation for contractor work packages.
  • Conduct qualitative reviews of contractor safety, construction, and quality plans.
  • Provide regular reporting on contractor safety performance and site observations.
  • Help resolve construction and engineering issues relating to compliance and contract performance.
  • Support project planning, development of Project Management Plans, and reporting against KPIs.
  • Assist with contract documentation, administration, variation assessments, and payment claims.
  • Contribute to financial forecasting and reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with ARTC and Inland Rail SMS, IMS, and EMS requirements.

You will bring a combination of technical capability, strong communication skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.


To be successful, you will have:

  • Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Eligibility for Engineers Australia membership.
  • Experience in delivery-phase project management across rail or road formation, civil earthworks, bridges, or drainage structures.
  • Knowledge of WHS principles and relevant rail safety legislation.
  • Experience delivering major infrastructure projects.
  • Strong organisation, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated commercial acumen.
  • Valid Class C driver’s licence.
  • Client-side experience (eg. ARTC, TfNSW etc) (Desired)
