Powerline works, Barnawartha, 19 November to 12 December 2024
To enable the safe running of double-stacked freight trains additional height clearance between the rail and powerlines is required in some locations along the North East rail line.
Work being done
Inland Rail contractor McConnell Dowell will replace or extend some power poles and cables along High St & Station St, Barnawartha to create the required clearance.
What can I expect?
- Construction noise during the day
- Delivery of materials and equipment
- Traffic management and reduced speeds will be in place during some works, which may cause traffic delays
- Homes with overhead power cable connections may require testing at the point of supply to ensure no reconnection issues after power outage.
Machinery used
Power trucks, elevated work platform, cranes, excavator, heavy and light vehicles will be used within the work area.
How we're managing impacts
Traffic management will be in place to ensure safe access for all road users and pedestrians, where required.
Any directly affected properties will be notified by AusNet if interruptions to power supply are expected.
