Level crossing upgrade day and night works, Birkett Street, Euroa 22-24 March 2025

Upgrades to the Birkett Street level crossing ahead of the Anderson Street bridge closure later this year, will be undertaken in Euroa during a track possession between Saturday 22 March and Monday 24 March 2025.

Work being done

  • Relocation of cable and signalling infrastructure
  • Removing the existing track and asphalt surface of the level crossing
  • Reinstatement of asphalt with a wider road width and shoulder
  • Line marking
  • Installation of new rail track, sleepers and ballast.

What can I expect?

  • Round-the-clock works between 5am Saturday 22 March and 6pm Monday 24 March at the Birkett Street level crossing (including overnight works)
  • Traffic management with road closures along Birkett, Brock and Campbell streets during works. Please observe all signage and instructions
  • Additional truck movements where works are occurring
  • Rail access will be from the Dudley Road level crossing. Traffic management will be in place to facilitate plant movements.
  • Workers using machinery, equipment, hand tools and service vehicles
  • Nearby residents may experience some periods of high noise and vibration and may notice additional construction workers and vehicles in the area.

What is a track possession – line closure?

A track possession is when the rail line is closed to trains to allow workers to safely carry out construction, upgrade or maintenance works. For passenger service changes visit, vline.com.au or transportnsw.info

Machinery used

Excavators, trucks, earthmoving plant, compaction roller, tamper, hi-rail plant, concrete trucks, light towers, workers using hand tools /survey equipment, traffic management equipment / signage.

How we're managing impacts

  • Traffic management and reduced road speeds
  • Where possible, lights will be positioned away from residential properties
