Powerline works, Seymour Railway Station, May 2025
Inland Rail contractor McConnell Dowell will be conducting powerline works, including removing power cables, installing new poles and running new cables at locations in and around the Seymour Railway station.
Work being done
To enable the safe running of double-stacked freight trains additional height clearance between the rail and powerlines is required in some locations along the North East rail line including at Seymour Railway Station.
To achieve this, McConnell Dowell will be removing power cables, installing new poles and running new cables at locations in and around the Seymour Railway station.
What can I expect?
- Night works from 11pm 8 May to 4am 9 May
- Night works from 10pm 10 May to 6am 11 May
- Ongoing works during the daytime hours of 7am to 7pm Monday to Friday
- Construction noise during the works
- Access to the works area will be via the station platform, Railway Place, Dowling Avenue, McIntyre Street and Watson Street
- Plant and other vehicles entering and exiting the works area
- Machinery and equipment operating onsite, including a scissor lift on the station platform
- Delivery of materials and equipment
- Traffic management for vehicles, pedestrians and rail passengers.
Machinery used
Elevated work platforms, cranes, light towers and light vehicles will be used within the work area.
How we're managing impacts
- Traffic management on local roads to support plant and other vehicles entering and exiting the works area
- Traffic management, where required to assist pedestrians at the Seymour Railway Station
- Potential night works to minimise impacts on Seymour Railway Station passengers.
