Site establishment and vegetation removal, Short Street, Broadford, April 2025
Ground investigations and work site establishment will continue in and around Broadford’s Short Street bridge during April.
Work being done
Investigation works
- Surveying the railway track, road and pavement levels at multiple locations
- Locating and mapping underground services.
Site establishment works at 16 Rupert Street
- A project worksite, where worker facilities, plant and material will be located will be established at 16 Rupert Street
- The vacant house will be demolished to provide space for worker facilities and for the future road upgrade
- Works at this site will include:
- disconnecting utilities and demolishing the building
- constructing a hardstand to provide a firm and solid surface
- installing boundary fences and portable sheds.
- Generators will be used until a power supply is connected to site.
Site establishment works at Rupert Reserve and 18-20 Short Street
- A project worksite, where plant and material will be located, has been established at the Rupert Reserve and 18-20 Short Street
- Works at these sites will include:
- under-bore works for watermain relocation
- constructing hardstands to provide a firm and solid surface
- installing boundary fences around the sites.
What can I expect?
- Works 7am-6pm Monday to Friday and 7am-1pm Saturdays
- Traffic management will be required in some locations where works are occurring close to roads. Pedestrian access will be maintained
- Access to residential properties will be maintained
- Reduced speed limits of 40km/h near works
- Workers using machinery, equipment, hand tools and service vehicles operating at each site
- These works are expected to generate medium levels of noise with some high levels of noise at times. Nearby residents may notice some vibration
- Nearby residents can expect some additional construction workers and vehicles in the area.
Machinery used
Non-destructive digging truck, excavators, tipper trucks, cranes, support vehicles, compaction rollers, loaders, graders, workers using hand tools and survey equipment, traffic management equipment and signage.
How we're managing impacts
- Traffic management and reduced road speeds
- Environmental controls in place for noise, dust and vibration.
Cancellation of works
Works can sometimes be cancelled at short notice depending on weather and other factors. Should this occur, works will be rescheduled.
