Utilities investigations, NSW/Qld Border to Whetstone, April 2025

Inland Rail contractors will complete utilities investigations at various locations between NSW/Qld border and Whetstone in Queensland. These investigations help to determine the location of underground utilities to help with the planning and scope of Inland Rail.

Work being done

Activities will include:

  • Surveys to locate and map underground utilities.
  • Use of a vacuum truck to expose the subsurface utility to determine the length and depth of the infrastructure.

What can I expect?

  • Vacuum truck operating in the area.
  • Light vehicle movements and contractors with survey equipment travelling along the roadside, rail corridor and in the community.
  • Investigations and surveys will occur between 6am to 6pm Monday to Friday.

Machinery used

The machinery used on site may include:

  • Light vehicles – 4WDs
  • Vacuum truck

How we're managing impacts

  • Regular contact with impacted landowners to discuss site activity and any land access requirements
  • Vehicles entering or leaving private property will be cleaned and inspected
  • Traffic management will be in place to ensure safe access for all road users when needed.

Cancellation of works

Work can sometimes be cancelled or postponed at short notice due to weather or other factors.

We will let impacted residents know in advance if work is rescheduled.
