Wyndham Avenue, Forbes, Gas services relocation – 23 October to 5 November 2024

Inland Rail will undertake works including out-of-hours night works to relocate gas services in the vicinity of Wyndham Avenue, Forbes between Wednesday 23 October and Tuesday 5 November 2024.

Work being done

  • Trenching works associated with the relocation of existing and installation of new gas pipelines. These works include gas pipeline bypass installation and tie-in to the existing gas pipeline network.
  • Trenching involves digging a narrow trench in the ground for the installation of pipelines, conduits, or cables.
  • Bypass and tie in works involve joining the new relocated pipeline to the existing pipeline.

The works will occur during standard ‘on shift’ working hours of 7am to 6pm Monday to Sunday.

Out-of-hours night works will also occur over two nights from 8pm Friday 25 October to 5am Sunday 27 October, pending weather conditions. These night works are required to minimise disruptions to gas supply users and impacts on the community.

Sites access roads used

Works will occur mostly within the existing rail corridor and road reserves. Site access will be via local roads and existing access tracks wherever possible.

What can I expect?

  • Temporary gas service interruptions may be required. Impacted residents will be notified in advance
  • Construction machinery and equipment operating on site
  • Delivery of materials and equipment to site
  • Some noise or dust generated by trench digging.

Machinery used

Small and large trucks, flood lights, generator, hand tools, polly welder, excavators, light vehicles.

How we're managing impacts

  • Mitigation measures, such as avoiding vehicle parking near properties and avoiding loud talking will be in place
  • Traffic controls will be in place at each street and property access will be maintained for all impacted residents
  • Water carts will be on-site to wet down work areas.
