Heritage room transformation for Stockinbingal community

The Ellwood’s Hall Committee has received much-needed funds to go towards relocating their Heritage Room to a more spacious area within the hall as part of Round 15 of the Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) Inland Rail Community Sponsorships and Donations program.

Ellwood Hall

Ellwood’s Hall in Stockinbingal, New South Wales is one of 19 recipients who received funding in the latest round of the program.

The hall has been a fixture of Stockinbingal since 1912 and plays an important role within the community hosting a wide variety of events including book launches, model train shows, a Country Bush Dance, the Twilight Markets, Stop & Mingle morning teas with guest speakers, and school functions.

Lorna Nixon, Secretary for the Ellwood’s Hall Stockinbingal Committee and Committee Member of the Heritage Room, said:

‘Our much-loved Heritage Room is an important space where the Stockinbingal community can come together and learn about the region’s rich history.

‘The Committee is very excited for the relocation and upgrade of our Heritage Room. We have outgrown the current room and a new, bigger space will allow us to beautifully display more photographs, maps, records, and curated historic items that make Stockinbingal so unique.‘Once the works are complete, we are hoping to extend the days that the Heritage Room is open each week to allow more community members to visit. We thank ARTC Inland Rail for their contribution to our village heritage’.

Stephen Jones, Inland Rail Director of Health, Safety and Environment, said:

‘We are proud to give back to the communities that are home to Inland Rail. The work these organisations do is instrumental to the wellbeing of regional communities.

‘I encourage other non-profit groups to lodge their applications for the next round of funding’.

The Inland Rail Community Sponsorships and Donations program offers funding between $1,000 – $4,000 for organisations in eligible regional areas. The funding supports organisations that contribute to local and regional prosperity, wellbeing, and sustainability.
