Inland Rail opportunities for Seymour businesses

The Australian Rail Track Corporation’s (ARTC) Inland Rail Skills Academy is holding a Workforce Development Event on Tuesday 16 May from 4pm to 6pm at the Seymour Racing Club, 55 Kobyboyn Rd, Seymour.

Seymour-Avenel Road site before construction.

Inland Rail is expected to support hundreds of jobs in Victoria throughout construction and is focussed on helping businesses grow their workforce ahead of the project.

Representatives from the ARTC, Australian Government and local employment service providers, apprenticeship support agencies, businesses, and schools will attend the event and provide an overview of the Inland Rail project, a snapshot of the local labour market and information about support available for businesses that take on apprentices and trainees.

Inland Rail construction partner, McConnell Dowell will also share a firsthand account of the workforce opportunities available on the project.

Ed Walker, ARTC Victoria and South Australia Projects General Manager said:

‘Inland Rail is Australia’s largest freight project and will bring the additional benefits of jobs and economic stimulus to the communities it connects.

‘The event is a great opportunity for local businesses to meet with employment service providers and other stakeholders in the region to make connections and grow their workforce.

‘The Inland Rail Skills Academy is focusing on building the skills needed for the next generation of rail workers, many of whom will be based in regional communities operating and maintaining our rail networks.’
