About Inland Rail

The Inland Rail Program is a 1600km rail infrastructure project stretching from Brisbane to Melbourne incorporating new and existing rail track. The program includes the upgrading of existing standard gauge track, the enhancement of existing standard gauge track to cater for double stacking and the construction of new standard gauge links comprising of viaducts, tunnels, rail track, crossings and bridges. About the opportunity

As the Senior Safety Advisor, you will be responsible for implementing safety strategies, systems, and initiatives.

With a focus on embedding safety as a fundamental and consistent aspect of Inland Rail's core values, your responsibilities will include safety assurance activities such as hazard identification, risk assessments, and providing safety recommendations.

You will foster a culture of accountability, ownership, and awareness by conducting various in-field safety assurance activities across 8 regional sites, ensuring that safety standards and contractual requirements are consistently upheld.

This role will require frequent weekly travel to the sites as well as overnight stays in regional communities. 

Additional Responsibilities include:

• Support the Head of Delivery and Project Teams to create a strong and healthy safety culture that ensures our people and contractors go home safely every day.
• Ensure the effective implementation of Safety Management Systems.
• Ensuring compliance to relevant Health and Safety legislation (including National Rail Safety Law and company health and safety requirements.
• Provide advice, guidance and coaching to support the implementation of H&S requirements
• Conduct inspections, audits, risk assessment, hazard identification and risk management tasks
• Review contractors H&S plans, records and related documentation ensuring requirements are met and implemented accordingly.

About you

To ensure success in this position, applicants will be able to demonstrate:

• Diploma or Degree in Work Health & Safety or another related field
  iCAM training and experience
• Demonstrated experience within a similar role
• High level of interpersonal skills including the ability to negotiate with and influence others
• Self-motivated with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  Intermediate MS Office Suite Skills
