Kemp Street bridge and Hill Street, Junee Gas services relocations – Night works July 2024
Utilities contractors, working on behalf of Inland Rail, will undertake out-of-hours works to relocate gas services over two nights in the vicinity of Kemp Street bridge and Hill Street, Junee from 9pm Wednesday 24 July 2024 to 5am Friday 26 July 2024.
Work being done out-of-hours
- Trenching works associated with the relocation of existing and installation of new gas pipelines between Railway Parade and Edgar Street.
- These works include gas pipeline bypass installation and tie-in to the existing gas pipeline network.
- Trenching involves digging a narrow trench in the ground for the installation of pipelines, conduits, or cables.
- Bypass and tie in works involve joining the new relocated pipeline to the existing pipeline.
These works have been assessed through a Review of Environmental Factors under the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979.
We want to reassure residents that starting these works now does not mean approval has been given for major construction to begin on the Albury to Illabo section.
Completing works before the Albury to Illabo project obtains approval from the Department of Planning and Environment means we can start major construction more efficiently once approvals are issued.
What can I expect?
- Potential temporary road closures at Edgar Street (between Hill Street and George Street); at Railway Lane (between Thomas Street and Kemp Street) and Seignior Street
- Construction machinery and equipment operating on site
- Temporary service interruptions may be required to some gas supply users. Impacted residents will be notified by Jemena in advance.
Sites access roads used
Construction contractors will access the work sites from Seignior Street, Kemp Street, Edgar Street, Hill Street and Railway Parade.
See below for maps showing the proposed works areas in the vicinity of Kemp Street bridge and Hill Street.
Machinery used
Small and large trucks, flood lights, generator, hand tools, excavators, light vehicles.
How we're managing impacts
- Traffic controls will be in place at each street and property access will be maintained for all impacted residents
- Some of these works will be noisy and mitigation measures will be in place.
