Snapshot

Date

October 2023 - December 2023

Working hours

7am to 6pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 1pm Saturdays.

Location

Kemp Street bridge, Junee

Town
  • Junee
Local Government Area
  • Junee Shire

Work being done

These early works have been assessed through a Review of Environmental Factors under the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979.

We want to reassure residents that starting these early works now does not mean approval has been given for major construction to begin on the Albury to Illabo section.

They will however enable major construction to start more efficiently once approvals are issued.

Overview of early works

  • removal and relocation of approximately 200m of signalling and communications cable in the vicinity of Kemp Street Bridge including minor trench work with the use of Vac Truck.
  • compacting holes from the pole locations and backfilling, if required, to restore ground condition
  • all works will take place within the rail corridor.

When are works occurring?

Activity is expected to commence in October 2023 and be completed by December 2023.

What can I expect?

  • construction machinery and equipment operating on site
  • delivery of materials and equipment to site
  • vacuum truck for trenching work.

Machinery used

  • 13T tracked high rail excavator,
  • elevated working platform with towbar trailer,
  • tandom box trailer,
  • light vehicles (ute),
  • semi-trailer,
  • rail saw,
  • magnetic drill press,
  • vibrating plate compactor.

How we’re managing impacts

  • mitigation measures will be in place for works generating noise or dust
  • traffic controls will be in place to assist with momentarily stopping road traffic on Kemp Street bridge – this is to allow for the cutting down of aerial conductors
  • where required, appropriate approvals/permits will be obtained from relevant road authorities prior to traffic management set up and/or closures on Kemp Street bridge.
