Rail Street re-opens with new roundabout in Wandong
Inland Rail has re-opened Rail Street in Wandong after roadworks were completed to connect the important community thoroughfare to the new roundabout and adjacent bridge.

Wandong’s Rail Street has re-opened following roadworks to improve the traffic flow, safety and connection to the new bridge.
Closed since April, Rail Street is once again providing an important link for motorists looking to access the new bridge and the local railway station, town hall and primary school.
Rail Street has been raised to match the height of the elevated roundabout to improve driver sightlines and safety at the intersection with Broadford-Wandong Road.
The road also underwent realignment, resurfacing and had new drainage installed.
Work continues in Wandong to complete pedestrian pathways, landscaping, install lighting and fit anti-throw screens on the bridge. The final round of roadworks later this year will include asphalting across the bridge and surrounding areas.
The roads either side of the bridge (Epping-Kilmore Road and Broadford-Wandong Road) have also been realigned to improve traffic flow and increase visibility when travelling over the new bridge.
When finished the new shared use path across the new bridge will significantly improve pedestrian connectivity in Wandong.
The path, for cyclists and pedestrians, is DDA-compliant and provides safe and easy access, linking Epping-Kilmore Road to Broadford-Wandong Road and Rail Street, and the surrounding network of footpaths.
It will connect with Pickett Walk, which has been extended to provide additional open community space with seating, picnic tables and landscaping.
