Wangaratta Mayor Irene Grant praises Inland Rail benefits to local community

Rural City of Wangaratta newly elected Mayor Irene Grant praised the community benefits of the modern infrastructure being delivered as part of the Inland Rail project in Wangaratta and Glenrowan.

During a recent tour of the Wangaratta site, Mayor Grant said she had been “absolutely impressed” by what she had seen.

“One of the main benefits to Wangaratta will be the accessibility to the railway precinct.

“And the fact that there will be added parking at the precinct and the whole project coming together with the improvements to the environment and also to the landscaping, the artwork that will be part of that.”

“We’ve managed to retain some of the historic infrastructure which complements the new infrastructure that’s been built here.”

Mayor Grant said Council was also hearing very positive feedback from Glenrowan.

“I think it’s credit to ARTC (Inland Rail) in the manner in which they have liaised with the community, kept the community involved and informed.”
