Watch now: Wandong bridge demolition
Watch how we dismantled the Broadford-Wandong Road bridge in Wandong in less than 60 seconds.

During the May ‘super possession’, our construction partner John Holland demolished the old bridge, removing 650 tonnes of rubble from the site.
Using excavators of varying sizes, up to 75 tonnes, with specialised pulveriser and hammer attachments, the structural components of the bridge were separated and broken down in just a few hours.
The local community came out to watch “a piece of Wandong history being made” and were amazed at how quickly the bridge came down.
The new higher bridge, which provides sufficient clearance for double-stacked freight trains, was opened to traffic in shuttle-flow in April.
Works will now continue on the approach roads, nearby intersections and pedestrian access, improving safety for all.
