Inland Rail is committed to effective community engagement and we welcome your feedback to ensure we are continually improving our communication and interactions with our communities.

You may have received an email from Inland Rail recently asking for your feedback on how we engage and communicate with you.

This is a quarterly communication and engagement survey we conduct in communities along the Inland Rail alignment. The survey is confidential and independently run by national market research company, Ipsos.

Your survey feedback is important to us because it shapes how we can better work with communities to ensure they have the information they need and the opportunity to provide feedback as Inland Rail progresses.

We survey community stakeholders registered in our database four times per year to gather anonymous feedback on our communication and community engagement practices. Each survey is sent to alternating groups of community stakeholders.

Feedback from our most recent survey, conducted in February and March 2022, indicated that we are doing a good job in some areas, like communicating regularly and treating people with respect. However, community members would also like to know more about the timing for each of the projects and what we’re doing to address noise impacts.

Most people reported that digital communication, like email, electronic newsletters and the Inland Rail website, are their preferred method for future communications with Inland Rail. We also heard that people would like more opportunities to interact face-to-face with our project teams.

As the environmental approvals and detailed design phases for each project progress, our teams will be sharing more information around potential impacts and mitigations, and project timings. With COVID-19 restrictions easing across Australia, we look forward to getting back out into the community and meeting people face to face to address their questions and concerns about the project.

Thank you to everyone who completed our recent community survey, and we ask that you complete the next survey in May/June if you receive an email invite.

You are also welcome to direct feedback or questions to us at any time by dropping into one of our offices, email or phone (1800 732 761).
