Opportunities
We are supporting people and businesses in the Stockinbingal to Parkes area with opportunities to work, learn and grow their business.
Supply and subcontract opportunities
In July 2023, we awarded Martinus Rail a $403.5m contract to design and construct enhancement works on the Stockinbingal to Parkes and Albury to Illabo sections of Inland Rail.
We are prioritising these works for completion by 2027.
Register interest in supplying to the project
Our construction contractor for the Stockinbingal to Parkes and Illabo to Albury sections, Martinus Rail are seeking registrations of interest from capable and competitive suppliers and subcontractors to supply to the project.
They are committed to creating sustainable economic development and employment opportunities for local and First Nations businesses and individuals. Martinus Rail will provide full, fair and reasonable opportunity for capable and competitive local and First Nations businesses and social enterprises to compete for work or participate in supply chains associated with Inland Rail.
Visit ICN Gateway to view a list of open supply opportunities and register interest in supplying to the project.
Note, major construction on the Albury to Illabo section will not start until all required environmental approvals are achieved.
‘Meet the shortlisted contractor’ events
Inland Rail and the shortlisted contractors for the design and construction of the Albury to Parkes enhancement projects held events in Albury, Wagga Wagga and Forbes in 2022.
The events provided local businesses and organisations an opportunity to meet the shortlisted contractors and learn about upcoming opportunities.
Watch the event video to hear from some of the attendees and download the event presentation.
Sponsorship of community organisations
We are pleased to support local community groups to run events and activities through our Community Sponsorships and Donations Program.
We offer four open rounds of funding each year.
Initiatives we have funded include purchasing community items, such as:
- purchasing a defibrillator for the Forbes Dragon Boat Club
- funding programs of excellence for Forbes District Soccer Club
- upgrading canteen facilities for Forbes Netball Association
- purchasing a new scoreboard and goal post pads for Forbes Swampies Junior AFL Club
- purchasing a Point of Sale (POS) system for the Forbes Art Society
- funding a rest stop picnic bench for Milvale Progress Association.
Scholarships for local university students
The Inland Rail Scholarship Program supports students from local communities through their full undergraduate course.
We have partnered with Charles Sturt University, the University of Southern Queensland and La Trobe University to offer scholarships to regional students pursuing studies and careers in STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) and related fields.
Students who live along the Inland Rail route are invited to apply for scholarships valued up to $20,000, or the equivalent of $5,000 for every year of study during the undergraduate degree.
Indigenous people and those experiencing financial hardship are particularly encouraged to apply for assistance.
