Major construction on the Stockinbingal to Parkes section of Inland Rail is now complete.

Work involved enhancements or modifications to specific sites along the existing 170.3km of rail corridor in regional New South Wales.

Martinus Rail was the principal contractor on the Stockinbingal to Parkes section of Inland Rail.

 

The Stockinbingal to Parkes section is part of Inland Rail, a 1,600km fast freight rail line now under construction. Inland Rail will link Melbourne and Brisbane via regional Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland. The route has been divided into 12 sections, to allow for a staged delivery of the open-access rail line.

Inland Rail is reshaping how goods move across Australia. Beyond improving freight efficiency, each section delivered is creating real opportunities—enhancing skills, generating jobs, and delivering lasting benefits for local communities.

The Forbes region received a significant economic boost, strengthening local economies and supporting regional jobs.

  • 22 local businesses from the Forbes Local Government Area supplied goods and services to Inland Rail.
  • 13 local workers were employed across a range of roles.
  • 79 businesses participated in Inland Rail’s ‘Pathways to Opportunities’ workshops, aimed at improving business practices and tendering/ contracting skills.
  • 18 local community members have strengthened their skills through training offered by the Inland Rail Skills Academy.
  • 360 local students have participated in the STEM education programs, including 23 teachers.

Enhancement works took place on the existing track from Stockinbingal to Parkes. This track passes through the communities of Milvale, Bribbaree, Quandialla, Caragabal and Forbes.
