Work being done

These works are allowed to be completed under the project’s Critical State Significant Infrastructure (CSSI) declaration, which was issued in 2021 by the NSW Minister for Planning.

We want to reassure residents that starting early works now does not mean approval has been given for major construction to begin on the Albury to Illabo section.

Completing these early works before the Albury to Illabo project obtains approval from the Department of Planning and Environment means we can start major construction more efficiently once approvals are issued.

Overview of works

  • Relocate and install a new gas pipeline within Council land running parallel to Pearson Street
  • Install two new water mains in Urana Street to connect to existing services
  • Install new telecommunication cable and a Telstra cable pit along Urana Street.

When is construction occurring?

The telecommunication works are expected to start in early December 2022 and be completed in January 2023.

The water mains works are expected to start in early December 2022 and be completed in February 2023.

The gas pipeline works are expected to start in early January 2023 and be completed by March 2023.

There may be a requirement for night works associated with the telecommunication and water works to minimise the impact on the community.

We will notify impacted residents in advance if any nightworks are required.

  • Urana Street may be temporarily closed during the water main relocations
  • Construction machinery and equipment operating on site
  • Delivery of materials and equipment to site

How we’re managing impacts
