Traffic surveys, Wagga Wagga
Throughout June 2023, Inland Rail will install devices and carry out surveys for traffic count purposes only.
Work being done
Inland Rail has been requested to prepare a Preferred Infrastructure Report as part of the Environmental Impact Assessment and approval process for the Albury to Illabo project which includes a requirement for further traffic assessment. We are collecting traffic data to use in our traffic assessment.
A few methods of survey will be used in the Wagga Wagga area, including traffic counts, pedestrian counts and tube survey.
We will be installing devices and carrying out surveys between Monday 5 June 2023 to Thursday 15 June 2023 and this will include traffic count cameras at around 60 locations. This will ensure we have a good understanding of how the road network operates in the Wagga Wagga area. The traffic count cameras will be attached to structures like light poles and will not be placed within or attached to private property. The devices are gathering footage for traffic and pedestrian count purposes only. The quality of the vision does not allow recognition of individuals or registration plates.
Pedestrian count surveys will be carried out on Cassidy Parade pedestrian bridge, Edmondson Street bridge and Wagga Wagga Station pedestrian bridge. Tube survey will also take place on Edmondson Street bridge
