Utility investigations in Wagga Wagga, 12 – 19 February 2025

Inland Rail contractor, Martinus will undertake utility investigations on road reserves between Edmondson Street and MacLeay Street, Wagga Wagga from 12 February to 19 February 2025, weather and ground conditions permitting.

Work being done

  • Utilities investigations involving potholing and use of a vacuum truck along Edmondson, Erin, Macleay and Railway Streets.
  • Investigation sites will involve drilling holes in road surfaces and other groundworks and may sometimes be noisy.

What can I expect?

  • Survey and testing equipment will be operating on-site during the hours noted
  • Temporary reinstatement of the affected road surfaces with cold mix asphalt
  • Temporary parking disruptions may occur along Erin, Railway and MacLeay Streets, while these investigations are completed
  • Traffic management will be in place to ensure the safety of passing drivers and workers. Please observe all traffic controller instructions and signage
  • Reduced speed limits of 40km/h near work sites
  • Nearby residents may hear some noise during this time and can expect some additional construction workers and vehicles in the area.

Temporary traffic changes near you

During the investigations, vehicle movements will be limited to moving equipment around the sites. Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions, obey signs and traffic control and allow extra travel time during this work.

Machinery used

Equipment used includes, but is not limited to, hand-held tools, traffic management signage, saw cutter, vacuum truck, survey equipment, plate compacter, heavy and light vehicles.

How we're managing impacts

  • Access to private properties will be maintained at all times
  • Investigations are scheduled to minimise disruptions to local traffic wherever possible
  • Traffic controls will be in place, where required
  • Non-tonal reversing alarms are used on all equipment when in operation and will be turned off when not in use
  • Workers will keep noise to a minimum and be respectful of local residents
  • Site activity will be monitored to ensure compliance with Project Approval Conditions.

Cancellation of works

Works can sometimes be cancelled at short notice depending on weather and other factors. Should this occur, our activities will be rescheduled.
