Site establishment work, Wagga Wagga, 6 January – February 2025

Inland Rail will undertake work to establish a temporary site compound adjacent to Railway Street and within the rail corridor at Wagga Wagga. Site establishment work will commence from 6 January 2025, with construction works to follow.

Work being done

  • Clearing and grubbing
  • Surveying and environmental sampling
  • Removing topsoil
  • Earthworks
  • Installing temporary site sheds and lunch facilities
  • Installing temporary fencing and environmental controls
  • Installing a car park and facilities for our workers
  • Investigating utilities involving non-destructive digging (NDD) along Edmondson, Erin, Macleay and Railway Street.

What can I expect?

  • Heavy vehicle movements, earth-moving activities and delivery of temporary site offices, machinery, equipment, and other materials
  • Traffic management will be in place to facilitate vehicle and pedestrian movement. To ensure the safety of drivers and workers, please observe all traffic management instructions and signage
  • Reduced speed limits of 40km/h near works
  • Martinus branded vehicles and employees
  • Nearby residents may hear some noise during this time and can expect some additional construction workers and vehicles in the area.

The work will occur during normal construction hours of 7am to 6pm Monday to Saturday.

In the event that work is required outside these construction hours, impacted neighbours will be notified in advance.

We will also keep you updated by sending regular construction updates and notifications advising of key work dates.

Machinery used

Equipment used for work includes but is not limited to hand tools, saw cutter, loaders, vibrating rollers, excavators, water carts, survey equipment, power washer, skid steer, heavy and light vehicles.

How we're managing impacts

  • Works programmed to best minimise noise impacts
  • Traffic controls will be in place, where required
  • Water carts will be on-site to wet down areas to assist in managing dust
  • Use of non-tonal reversing alarms on all equipment and turning off equipment when not in use
  • Instructing workers to keep noise to a minimum and being respectful of our neighbours
  • Works will be monitored to ensure compliance with Project Approval Conditions.

Cancellation of works

Works can sometimes be cancelled at short notice depending on weather and other factors. Should this occur, works will be rescheduled.
