Barnawartha Railway Station
Between 21 to 25 September, McConnell Dowell will be undertaking significant track lowering works at the Murray Valley Highway overpass worksite.
Work being done
The Barnawartha Railway Station is being used to store ballast rock for these track lowering works. Ballast forms the trackbed for railway sleepers.
A ballast train will be used to move the ballast from the station to the work site, with loading occuring at different times throughout the day. Loading of the train with ballast may also occur during the night of Sunday 24 September and early hours of Monday 25 September.
What can I expect?
- intermittent operation of machinery and loading of the ballast train between 21-25 September,
- noise will occur during loading of the ballast train – this may include during the night of 24 September and early hours of 25 September,
- trucks and other vehicles entering and exiting the work site may cause minor traffic delays,
- machinery and equipment operating onsite,
- use of generators and light towers during night works – these will be directed away from residential properties.
Machinery used
- trucks,
- loaders,
- light vehicles and
- ballast train
will be used within the works area.
How we’re managing impacts
- water carts will be onsite to wet down areas to assist in managing dust,
- environmental controls will be in place.
