Coming down, the old Benalla Station approach road and bridge, June 2026.
Demolition of the bridge began in June, starting with the bridge deck removal and the station access road.
Almost 12,000 cubic metres of material has been removed from the bridge abutments.
In July the old station underpass will be demolished, so construction can start on a new station forecourt, open public spaces, improved car parking, a passenger drop-off zone and bus interchange areas.
New east and west tracks have been commissioned in front of the station and a new platform to service the west track is being constructed.
We’re transforming Benalla Railway Station with a new pedestrian underpass, improved accessibility, new lifts, ramps and stairs to enhance connections between the station precinct and Benalla town centre.
