Construction works are continuing between North Camurra and North Star, South Moree and Bellata and Bellata and North Narrabri.

Works occurring between North Camurra and North Star include:
- Earthworks between Gil Gil Creek Road, Crooble and IB Bore Road, North Star
- Placement of capping and ballast between Roydon Road, North Camurra and Gil Gil Creek Road, Crooble
- Rail bridge replacement works at Croppa Creek
- Level crossing replacement works between Roydon Road, North Camurra and Croppa Creek Road, North Star
- Track construction including concrete sleeper and rail distribution between North Camurra and North Star.
Works occurring between Tapscott Road, South Moree and Penneys Road, Bellata include:
- Ballast brushing (conducted during planned railway line shutdowns)
- Landscaping, fencing and survey works.
Works occurring between Penneys Road, Bellata and North Narrabri include:
- Site investigation works including survey (conducted during planned railway line shutdowns)
- Construction of temporary material storage areas, access roads and gates
- Level crossing preparation works between Killarney Gap Road and Junefield Road
- Preparation works for rail bridge demolition at Ten Mile Creek
- Out-of-hours ballast brushing work (conducted during planned railway line shutdowns).
