County Boundary Road level crossing upgrade
Our contractor Trans4m Rail will continue level crossing and drainage upgrade works on County Boundary Road, from north of Kirkton Road to Milguy, from Friday 7 January 2022.
Work being done
The upgrades will include the installation of new drainage structures and upgrades at level crossing 911.
To facilitate the works, a temporary gravel access road will be constructed to divert traffic around the existing level crossing. The temporary road will accommodate road trains.
To allow for drainage works on both sides of County Boundary Road, a traffic lane switch will occur midway throughout the works to provide a safe work zone during construction.
What is a traffic lane switch?
Diverting traffic onto a different section of road is referred to as a traffic switch. Switching traffic helps us minimise congestion caused by construction works.
Motorists are urged to follow changing traffic conditions on site, including speed zone reductions and directional signage.
What can I expect
- Trucks and other vehicles entering and exiting the construction site
- Construction machinery and equipment operating on site adjacent to live traffic along County Boundary Road
- Delivery of materials and equipment to site
- Some of these works will be noisy and mitigation measures will be in place
- Some minor traffic delays are expected during work hours.
Machinery used
- Trucks
- cranes
- graders
- excavators
- loaders
- rollers
- water/vacuum excavation trucks.
How we’re managing impacts
- Traffic controls will be in place, where required, including Variable Message Signage (VMS) boards
- Water carts will be on site to wet down areas to assist in managing dust.
