Offering adults with a disability support and employment, Gwydir Industries was engaged by our contractor Trans4m Rail in late 2020.

One of Gwydir’s largest jobs has been producing wooden survey pegs to mark out the Inland Rail alignment, worksite boundaries and cadastral survey areas.

A small team of three has produced a mammoth 13 000 pegs, and team members Jason and Malcolm (pictured above), together with their supervisor Erol are super proud of their achievements contributing to one of Australia’s biggest infrastructure projects.

Peg production involved cutting long lengths of wood into smaller pieces, shaping one end into a point and painting the pegs different colours to match their intended use.

Inland Rail and Trans4m Rail are proud to have supported Gwydir Industries in its mission to provide job skills, training and real work opportunities for Moree district who live with a disability.

We are committed to investing in regional communities by providing sustainable business and job opportunities for local and First Nations businesses. To March 2023, more than $234m has been spent with local businesses as part of the Narrabri to North Star Phase 1 project.
