Illabo to Stockinbingal project update March 2022

The project team is working to finalise the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS), as well as continue property discussions with individual landowners along the alignment.

The ARTC-Inland Rail environmental assessment procedure includes a step where we provide the EIS to the NSW Department of Planning and Environment (DPE) for their review before formal submission. We do this to assure DPE that all key issues have been addressed and the documents provide enough clarity and rigour for the community, and other stakeholders, to understand the possible effects of the proposal.

The Illabo to Stockinbingal project team recently received DPE commentary on:

  • how the proposal may affect surface water downstream for residents in Stockinbingal, as well as the potential impacts near waterways
  • temporary accommodation for the construction workforce.

DPE has requested more detailed investigation on these topics to be brought forward and included in the EIS, to provide interested stakeholders increased certainty about potential effects of the reference design.

Once this work is completed, the EIS will be available for public review and comment through formal submission. Public exhibition is expected in the second half of 2022. Interested members of the community can register their details in advance to receive a copy of the EIS on a USB by emailing your name and postal address to inlandrailnsw@artc.com.au. Please put ‘I2S EIS USB’ in the subject heading.
