The Inland Rail Program is a 1600km rail infrastructure project stretching from Brisbane to Melbourne incorporating new and existing rail track. The program includes the upgrading of existing standard gauge track, the enhancement of existing standard gauge track to cater for double stacking and the construction of new standard gauge links comprising of viaducts, tunnels, rail track, crossings and bridges. About the opportunity

Reporting to the Head of PMO – Delivery, the main objective for this role will be to oversee, support and facilitation of Inland Rail Delivery Team monthly projects and lead the development of project portfolio reporting, quarterly project reporting for the Delivery Leadership Team.

Development, implementation and continuous improvement of Project and Portfolio suite of reporting systems, tools, and documents, across the Inland Rail Delivery Team.  

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  •  Develop and maintain monthly portfolio reporting suite for Inland Rail Delivery Leadership Team.
  • Coordinate Project and Portfolio reporting for the Delivery Team that can be used for multiple audiences including internal and external stakeholders.
  • Applying PowerBI and Data Warehouse systems and applications and data analytics techniques to improve performance through the identification of risks, issues, and insights to support effective business decision making within the Inland Rail Delivery Team and at Executive/Board Level.
  • Work closely with all the Regional, area and Project Directors and prepare the key insights and strategies to ensure the portfolio of projects are delivered on time and to budget, and to challenge the performance of the project.
  • Lead and coordinate continuous improvement activities for reporting to provide business intelligence in decision making, to ensure projects are on track to meet agreed KPIs.
  • Lead the management of the Delivery Team reporting data to ensure the integrity and currency of data to allow accurate insights for business decision making.

About you 

To be successful in this role, you will need to be a strategic communicator, able to clearly convey information and ideas through a variety of media to individuals or groups in a manner that engages the audience and helps them understand and retain the message.  You will need to demonstrate your attributes in decision making, working at high standards and have creative, innovative and resourceful thinking.


Key requirements:

  • Degree in Project Management, IT Finance, Commerce, Engineering, Science, , or other disciplines relevant to business intelligence and reporting.
  • Experience working in PMOs/and or major projects, programs, or portfolios.
  • Extensive knowledge in business reporting on major construction projects.
  • Extensive experience in developing a Reporting Framework including associated reporting and data management systems, tools, and reports.
  • Extensive experience in change management and continuous improvement
  • Business Analytics experience across a complex brownfield and greenfield portfolio of infrastructure projects.
