The Inland Rail Program is a 1600km rail infrastructure project stretching from Brisbane to Melbourne incorporating new and existing rail track. The program includes the upgrading of existing standard gauge track, the enhancement of existing standard gauge track to cater for double stacking and the construction of new standard gauge links comprising of viaducts, tunnels, rail track, crossings and bridges. About the opportunity

The Project Engineer is responsible for assisting the Project Manager to manage the development phase and delivery of nominated work packages within scheduled timeframes, budgets, and safety requirements.
Critical to this role is the ability to manage varied stakeholders, deadlines, budgets, planning conditions and safety requirements across Approved Project Works packages. It will also require provision of timely advice to the Project Manager to inform best-for-project decision making. The effective management of external Contractors and Consultants, project management documents, contracts and evaluation reports will be vital to delivering upon these responsibilities.
The position will be based in Brisbane with frequent/rostered travel to site.

About the role:

• Provide reports to the Project Manager about resources, plant and equipment requirements for components of the nominated Inland Rail projects to facilitate resourcing according to project management plans.
• Ensure that safety policies and procedures are complied with.
  Ensure detailed project programs and plans are provided on a regular basis to Project Manager.
• Ensure fair and equitable workplace practices and behaviours are complied with, creating a discrimination free workplace in accordance with legislative requirements.
• Participate in project delivery and undertake other duties as requested.
• Ensure compliance with ARTC’s Safety Management System (SMS) and Environmental Management System (EMS) requirements, responsibilities, authorities, and accountabilities.
• Promote a safety culture within the team to conform with current Work Health and Safety (WH&S) and relevant Rail Safety legislation.
• Ensure that injuries are properly reported, and that any injured employees are provided both a safe and timely return to work.

To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate:

• Degree in civil / structural engineering or equivalent qualifications.
• Minimum of 5 years demonstrated experience in engineering maintenance, construction or project management of track, civil, structures and/or signalling.
• Knowledge of or an awareness of work health and safety principles and relevant rail safety legislation.
• Experience in the administration, management, and delivery of major infrastructure projects.
• Demonstrable ability to work in an organised, well-ordered manner.
• Highly developed written and oral communication and presentation skills.
• Highly developed problem resolution and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated commercial acumen.
• Driver’s Licence – C-Class.
• CPEng/NER/RPEQ or eligible to obtain CPEng/NER/RPEQ within 6 months
