Murray Valley Highway works Barnawartha North
Throughout March 2023, our contractor McConnell Dowell will undertake construction works near Murray Valley Highway, Barnawartha North.
Work being done
Works include piling works to strengthen the foundations of the existing Murray Valley Highway rail overpass bridge, in preparation for lowering the rail track. Piling involves drilling deep into the ground to ensure strong foundations for the existing bridge.
Utility relocations will continue and drainage works will begin.
During the North East Rail Line shutdown between 6am Saturday 18 to 6pm Monday 20 March, night works will be undertaken.
What can I expect?
- Construction noise during daylight hours and night works, with mitigation measures in place
- Ground excavation at various locations
- Environmental controls in place
- Trucks and other vehicles entering and exiting the construction site, may cause minor traffic delays
- Heavy machinery and equipment operating on site
- Delivery of materials and equipment.
What can I expect during night works?
- Construction noise from 6am Saturday 18 to 3pm Monday 20 March
- Use of generators and light towers during night works (these will be directed away from residential properties where possible).

- loaders, and
- light vehicles
will be used will be used within the works area.
How we’re managing impacts
- Water carts will be onsite to wet down areas to assist in managing dust.
- Traffic controls will be in place, where required
- Directing light towers away from residential properties
- Live monitoring of noise, dust and vibration.
