Narrabri to North Star Phase 1 construction update February 2023
Major construction on the Narrabri to North Star (N2NS) Phase 1 project is close to finishing, with our contractor Trans4m Rail delivering the final works to enable services to resume along the entire project alignment in coming months.
February 27, 2023
All sleepers, rail and ballast have now been installed between Camurra and North Star, bringing rail works along this section to an end. The team is now completing signalling, level crossing construction, landscaping and fencing.
With trains now operational between Moree and Narrabri, construction activities within the rail corridor are only undertaken when safe to do so.
A full rail possession will be undertaken in early April and more details will be provided in our March newsletter.
Road works on the Newell Highway between Junefield Road and Murrumbilla Lane, north of Narrabri have commenced. To facilitate the construction of a southbound slip lane in the area and due to safety requirements, the Highway has been temporarily reduced to one lane for approximately two weeks and will re-open to two-way traffic in early March. Motorists are urged to follow directional signage, including speed zone reductions and allow additional travel time.
Tapscott Road closure
Level crossing and signalling works at Tapscott Road, Moree will commence on Monday 13 March 2023.
Due to the work required, Tapscott Road will be temporarily closed between the Newell Highway and Moree Saleyards for approximately four weeks. Access to Moree Waste Management Facility, Moree Water Park and LDC will be via Burrington Road during this period.
Refer to the map for traffic changes.
