Chance to grill Inland Rail at National BBQ Championships

Forbes locals will have their chance to grill Inland Rail staff at the National BBQ Championships in Forbes this weekend, with members of the Inland Rail Stakeholder team on hand to answer questions about the ongoing Stockinbingal to Parkes project, which takes in Forbes.

The show is at Grinstead Oval, Forbes, on Saturday and Sunday, 9 and 10 November, and will include cooking demonstrations, BBQ stalls, food trucks, live music, as well as a celebrity chef.

Team members from Inland Rail and construction partner Martinus Rail, which is sponsoring the show, will be at the Inland Rail stand to highlight our progress on construction and how we are managing impacts.

Martinus Rail has been awarded a $403.5 million contract to design and construct enhancement works on the Stockinbingal to Parkes and Albury to Illabo sections of Inland Rail.

James Kennedy, Delivery Director, Albury to Parkes, Inland Rail, said:

“Barbecues are a staple of many Australian households and Inland Rail is proud to attend the National BBQ Championships in Forbes.

“We have been very active in Forbes, carrying out many rail enhancement tasks at Forbes Station, Wyndham Avenue and the Lachlan River Bridge.

“We look forward to chatting with visitors to the show, which is likely to take place over a sausage sandwich – with or without onion.

“It’s important to support events like the National BBQ Championships and build strong community relationships as we work hard towards delivering Inland Rail south of Parkes by 2027.”
