Inland Rail set for major works in Wagga Wagga during track possession, 7-9 November, 2026

Inland Rail will undertake major works on the Edmondson Street bridge during the upcoming track possession from 7am on Saturday 7 November to 6am on Monday 9 November.

Inland Rail contractor Martinus will install precast concrete girders for the new Edmondson Street bridge. Works will also include installing temporary walkways for the footbridge incorporated into the new bridge and additional works to the bridge abutments.

During the possession, works will also continue on the new Mothers Bridge, together with preparations for the demolition of the existing footbridge, which has served the community since 1936.

At Cassidy Street, works will continue on the new footbridge, including formwork, reinforcement and concrete works for the ramps and bridge structure.

Inland Rail aims to complete the new Mothers Bridge and Cassidy Street footbridges in the first half of 2027, with the Edmondson Street bridge expected to become operational in the second half of 2027.

“This possession gives us an important opportunity to progress several major works across Wagga Wagga while the rail line is closed.

“We thank the local community for their continued patience and support while we carry out these works and deliver new infrastructure for Wagga Wagga.”
